2018 Christmas Cards
I wanted to create a less religious and less Christmas focused card for showing love to those who have a hard time around the holidays or would just prefer something different. I was inspired by the beauty of Poinsettias and the classic tale of how they became red that I read as a child. Classic and simple nativity design, inspired by the symmetry and aesthetics of older Christian art. A non-holiday specific winter scene I first sketched while just playing around. I enjoyed the repeating triangle shapes and simplicity and thought it would make a cute card. An activity card for children (and adults too!) both to use a find-the-picture game and for coloring in.
These are the five card designs that I sketched, selected, completed, and had printed for the 2018 holiday season. I sold them mainly to family and friends, and was excited to find that they were very appreciated and quickly sold out.
Art Travel Journal for 2018 Roadtrip
This past summer over the course of a two-week roadtrip to the Grand Canyon, I drew and journaled daily about the beautiful sites, challenges, and my favorite parts. Once we returned I added watercolor and alternated the journal pages with postcards and other items I had collected along our trip into a small travel-zine for myself and Shelby, who traveled with me.
